1967 Rather Sunny. A Cold and Wet late Spring.
In the year that Guerilla leader Che Guevara was captured in Bolivia and executed, the first colour television broadcast in the UK began on BBC2 and traffic in Sweden switched from driving on the left to driving on the right. In the world of music, Englebert Humperdink with 'Release Me' and Procul Harum with 'Whiter Shade of Pale' each spent 6 weeks at Number One in the UK charts. The Christmas hit was 'Hello, Goodbye' by the Beatles; and Sandie Shaw won the Eurovision Song Contest with 'Puppet on a String'.
Weather Notes:-
14th July - Thundery rain gave 40 to 60mm quite widely over Lancashire and west Yorkshire.
8th August - A slow-moving cold front associated with a depression south of Ireland brought thunderstorms and flash flooding to parts of Lancahire. Morecambe only had 30mm but in the hills north of Burnley over 100mm of rain fell in less than 2 hours.
8th December - Locally 30 to 40cm of snow fell in 12 hours along the Sussex coast between Newhaven (East Sussex) and Worthing (West Sussex). North of the South Downs there were only 5 to 10cm of level snow.
